Nelson Mullins Continues to Climb Higher in the S&P Global Market Intelligence League Tables Rankings
Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP is ranked No. 4 among legal advisers in the total number of deals in the 2022 S&P Global Market Intelligence League Tables for the United States Banking industry, which is an increase from its 2021 No. 8 ranking.
Neil Grayson, head of the firm's Financial Services Corporate & Regulatory practice group, stated that "the 2022 rankings showcase our practice group's consistent dedication to our clients and the growth of our practice across the United States. We are honored to be recognized once again for our M&A work."
In addition, Nelson Mullins is ranked the No. 5 top legal adviser in bank mergers and acquisitions deal values. The firm has closed around $671.8 million USD worth of merger deals involving financial institutions. The No. 5 ranking is an increase from the firm’s No. 13 ranking in 2021. These deals represent the broad range of the firm's efforts in supporting clients in the South, the Upper Midwest, the Southeast, the Rocky Mountains, and South Carolina.
Ben Barnhill, a partner in the Nelson Mullins Financial Services Corporate & Regulatory practice group, led two of these deals. “The overall state of the bank M&A market during the last six months has been challenging,” said Barnhill. “We will certainly see more transactions this year, but we expect the activity level to remain moderate given the financial and potential regulatory headwinds.”
